Welcome to Waterside!

End of the Year Message from Principal Najah Gall

Dear Waterside School for Leadership community,

As we reach the end of another school year, I want to express my gratitude and pride for your dedication and resilience. Students, your passion for learning has been inspiring. Faculty and staff, your commitment to shaping lives is commendable. Parents and guardians, your support has created a strong community.

As we enter the summer break, I would like to offer some tips to avoid the summer academic slide and ensure a smooth start to the new school year. It is important to continue engaging in learning activities during the break to maintain and strengthen your academic skills. Here are a few suggestions:

1. Read regularly: Set aside dedicated time each day to read books, articles, or even online resources. Reading helps improve vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking skills (at least 20 minutes).

2. Practice math: Keep your math skills sharp by practicing basic operations, solving puzzles, or playing math-related games. There are also various online resources and apps available for math practice.

3. Explore educational activities: Take advantage of educational programs or camps in your community that offer hands-on learning experiences. These can be in subjects like science, art, music, or coding.

Additionally, I would like to remind you that completing the summer packets for your respective grade is the first assignment for the new school year. These packets are designed to review and reinforce key concepts from the previous grade. They will help you start the new school year with confidence and readiness.

I encourage you to make the most of your summer break while also staying engaged in meaningful learning experiences. Together, let's continue to strive for excellence and create a brighter future.

First Day of School is Thursday, September 5th, 2024! Have a safe and enjoyable summer!

Thank you for being part of Waterside School for Leadership.
